this year we traveled to rome, georgia for thanksgiving.
chris' sister and her family live there.
his parents were coming down from syracuse so that(almost) all of us could spend the holiday together.
but since the drive is a doozy, we decided to stay one night in memphis on the way to georgia.
why memphis, you ask?
well, you know, because...
food.
we woke these clowns up at 5 am so that we could get to memphis by lunch, in hopes that they would fall peacefully back to sleep.
WRONG.
they did not sleep.
they did not stop moving.
the big one did not stop talking once.
and the little one made us pay big time for not getting a full night's sleep.
bless.
despite the downpour for the entire length of our journey,
my hubs was king of the road.
we had chicken wings to eat, damnit.
here they are. the reason we woke so early.
chicken wings from uncle lou's doused in "sweet spicy love" sauce.
deeeelish.
and what is a trip to memphis without a visit to graceland (answer: a cheaper one)?
it's so cheesy and so awesome.
chris and i had both been before, but we wanted to take the kids.
i'm so glad we did, because ben was the perfect age to take the tour with his very own interactive ipad and head phones.
that tour gave us an hour of peace from all of the talking :)
we did our very best to tcb in the rain a flash.
my hunka-hunka-burnin'-love.
and then, ribs for dinner. it's only right.
on the way to rome the next morning, we stopped in muscle shoals, alabama to visit the studios where greats like aretha franklin and otis redding recorded.
we tried to stick to a theme, can you tell?
check that one off the bucket list.
stay tuned for thanksgiving in georgia.
love,
coco
