greatest hits (it's baaaaaaaack)

well, folks.  we survived our first week of kindergarten.  and after a few sleep adjustments and attitude adjustments, i think we are all starting to get the hang of it.  now i need a nap.

here's a peek at our week:

1) it may not have been the best idea we ever had, but we decided to take ben to his first (really his second, but he was 6 mos. old the first time, so it doesn't count) texas a & m football game.  this expereince is usually a good time for all, except when it's hotter than the surface of the sun outside.
after walking what felt like across town (considering the turtle pace of our five-year-old) from our car to the stadium, we quickly realized we weren't going to last very long.  our goal was to make it to the beginning of the third quarter to see johnny football play for a hot minute.  and that we did.
we let him dunk his head in the fountain for relief.
he thought that was awesome.
by crouching in the shade outside the stadium before the game, we happened on the coolest part of our day: watching the team walk in.  i snapped this cute picture of our cute coach, looking all cool and cute.  xoxox coach sumlin.
 ben and his earplugs.
now i know i am making myself sound incredibly old here, but back when i was in college we walked barefoot, uphill, in the snow to games everyone wore maroon tshirts with shorts or jeans and flip-flops or tennis shoes (which personally i would much rather sweat through than my nice clothes.  just sayin'.) ummm, these little nineteen-year-olds have really stepped up their game.  after i picked my jaw up off the floor, i tried to snap pictures just to prove to my college girlfriends that i wasn't lying.  oh, and does no one gain the freshman fifteen anymore?  damn them.  these cute things were all walking around in socks while holding their boots by the time we left the game.  smh.
on trend: LACE (skirts, shorts, dresses), cowboy boots, daisy dukes and ohmygod the bows.  giant BOWS.  wtf?  when did that happen?
zoom in to see the size of that thing.
o.k. i'm done now.
gig 'em and god bless 'em, benjamin.

2) crosby started school (hallelujah, thank you jesus)!  even though his school is still considered mother's day out, we sure did pose by the sign that said preschool that they so kindly provided out front.
his cousin goes to the same school.  this is how they "hug".
my sis with addy.  as crosby would say, "she cuuuuute".

looking forward to cold beer and good music at the untapped festival tomorrow.
how was your week?  what are you looking forward to?

love,
coco

greatest hits

do you ever walk into your house and wonder who threw all of your family's clothes and shoes everywhere?  yea, me neither.

oh baby, has it been a week.  a mighty fine week.  here's how it went down.

a) my aggies won.  we beat the hell out of alabama (formerly the number one team in the nation.  no biggie.) by the way, thank you johnny football.  we had aggies over.  celebrated in the aggie way.  wanna see a picture?
too bad.  i didn't take any.

b) i went to a fancy-schmancy auction for ben's school where i got to dress up (never happens), wear bright red lipstick and drink a lot of wine.  wanna see a pic of my cute outfit?  sorry.  doesn't exist.

c) i went to a loooong overdue happy hour with my ladies (which lasted until midnight, mind you.)  we talked and caught up and had a fantastic time.  wanna see how cute my girlfriends are?  my bad.  no pictures.

d) my big boy started reading.  that's right, i said reading.  we bought a set of bob books and he is rocking it.  look at this sweet picture of him reading.  nevermind.  i forgot to take one.

e) last night my sis baby-sat so we could go see eddie vedder in concert.  i will always have a soft spot for long-haired grunge boys that wear flannels around their waist and smell faintly of dirty hair and patchouli.  i can't help myself.  the show was fantastic and my love for him is more solid than ever.  wanna see a picture?  here you go.  thank you, internet. (you can read about the show here.)
eddie, from back when my love started.
what eddie looked like last night.  and to think that he sounds even better than he looks.  hubba.

i did manage to take a picture of my neice trying to escape the bumpo.  but i cannt manage to get my instgram pics on my blog.  can somebody help me figure that out?

looking forward to making a million dollars at our family's garage sale so i can start christmas shopping.

how was your week?  was it as delicious as eddie?

love,
coco

acl awards 2012

it's that time of year again.
the austin city limits music festival came and went, proving once again to be one of my most favorite ways to soak in my friends and music.
it nourishes my soul.
cheesy?  yes.  true?  absolutely.
last year i created my own acl festival awards featuring the highlights of the weekend.
and this year i will do the same.
i just know you are all on the edge of your seats.

best pre-festival grub:
giant burgers at casino el camino.  it served as a good sponge for the dozen or so beers we were about to consume at the festival.
best mudfinder:
marcy.  every. time.  on friday, zilker park was dry as a bone except for maybe one spot where someone probably dumped a cooler.  and if anyone is going to accidentally step in a puddle of mud (causing her friends to pee from laughter), marcy will.
(this is a big one....drumroll, please)
best in show:
hands down, florence and the machine.  here's the deal, i liked her songs on the radio but never bought an album. well, let me tell you, she is an amazing preformer.  i have been doing this festival thing for a while now and i can easily say that i have never seen someone command an audience like florence.  we were putty in her hands.  and because of that, i am a fan for life.

best way to spend a rainy day:
with these guys.
we skipped the festival on saturday (i know, i know, spare me the lecture) due to some pop-up thunderstorms.  having some of your best friends drive into town to hang out with you makes it really difficult to leave them to go stand in a field of mud.  i would rather see them than jack white anyday.
best impression of a 21 year old:
these fools.  and i love them for it.
the hostess with the mostest award goes to:
the blond beauty in the pink dress.  becky didn't go to the festival, however she stayed up and waited for us to get home, she cooked us breakfast (which included these), she provided us with unlimited coffee, snacks and stories about suzy.  she delivered these all with warmth and kindness.  this is her blog debut!  say hello to becky!
best hangover helper:
watermelon agua fresca.  i required a gallon of it.
most creative outfit:
it is a 40-way tie. every year, the acl festival is an education in what "kids" are wearing these days.  and by "kids" i mean the twelve year olds they now accept into universities.  current trends: fanny packs, high-waisted cut-off jean shorts, shiny spandex bodysuits, and apparently capes.  hmph.

{the people-watching is out-of-this-world}
my favorite show:
the avett brothers.  florence may have stolen my heart but the avett brothers had me at hello.  they are so much fun to see live.  they put on a foot-stomping, twirl-yourself-silly kind of show.  true love.

disappointments: missing the lumineers and the alabama shakes due to insane crowds.  boo.

other highlights:
trampled by turtles (i am currently obsessed with their latest album)
